How to Clean and Care for Your Championship Belt
Cleaning the plates
You need a microfibre cloth (the kind used for glasses) and isopropyl alcohol or lightly soapy water.
- Put a few drops of isopropyl alcohol on the plate.
- Rub gently with the microfibre cloth in small circles until the dust or marks are gone and the surface is dry.
- No isopropyl alcohol? Use lightly soapy water instead, and still use only a microfibre cloth.
Do not use cleaning waxes, polishes, dish rags, bath towels or paper towels on the plates. They scratch the plating and dull the colours.
Caring for the leather strap
The strap is genuine cowhide leather. Clean it with leather wax, or with a car dashboard polish. Either removes dust, brings back the shine and helps the strap last longer.
Storage
Keep the belt dry and out of direct sunlight, and store it flat or hung by the strap so the plates do not press against each other.
